The phone will probably see the light of day on October 1

Yesterday, the rumored LG V10 smartphone popped up online in a leaked press render. It seems that, after the G Flex series, LG wants to revolutionize the world of smartphones once again by unleashing a smartphone that comes with an atypical secondary display placed on top of the main one.

Well, today, LG itself has posted a video online teasing its October 1 event, which should see the debut of the V10. While the video is very elusive, we still get to spot part of the device (the thicker display next to what appears to be the two front-facing cameras) emerging from the shadows.

The teaser doesn’t reveal anything else about the phone, but the rumor mill has been very active lately and has leaked most of the specs of the device already.

What to expect from the LG V10?

According to word on the street, we can expect the LG V10 to arrive with a 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen (so it’s going to be a phablet) that supports QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution. Hardware-wise, LG’s high-end smartphone comes equipped with a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, just like the LG G4.

The company throws in 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot. On the back, the device should bundle a 16MP camera with laser autofocus, dual LED flash and 4K video recording. We’ve been told that the selfie shooter will be of the 5MP variety, but if we take into consideration the current teaser, the smartphone might actually come with a dual selfie camera.

The handset should also bundle a fingerprint scanner which is expected to live exactly under the power button positioned on the back of the phone, right under the camera.

We’re very interested to hear what LG has to say about the peculiar secondary display and how exactly the system will end up working and what extra functionalities will be added into the mix.

Spec-wise, the LG V10 does seem to resemble the current LG G4 flagship, but the key aspect here is the secondary display, which the company is probably betting on to sell the device. What do you think, would you be interested?
