Cynapse today has announced the release of Localscope 1.1, a new version of the company’s popular social-data-powered GPS app for the iPhone, that now seamlessly integrates with the popular Navigon MobileNavigator GPS using their AppInteract API.

According to the developer, thanks to the enhancements delivered in version 1.1, Localscope users can now get state of the art, 3D turn-by-turn directions to a search result in Localscope with a tap.

“On popular customer demand, Localscope now integrates with Navigon MobileNavigator to get turn by turn directions to a place you have searched for,” said Cynapse.

Localscope 1.1 also sets the default distance units as US or Metric automatically based on the user's locale set on their iPhones, iPods or iPads.

Among the included fixes, Cynapse mentions that the rate button (App Store rating) now works.

"We are extremely excited with the Navigon MobileNavigator integration. Localscope at the core is a mashup of social & local services to enable users to discover places & POIs," said Cynapse CTO, Dhiraj Gupta.

"While we aim to increase the choice of location search services and social networks integrated with Localscope, we realize that enabling users to do more with the results is equally important,” Gupta added.

“With this new integration, users can find destinations with Localscope and be guided there using the amazing 3D Panaroma maps of Navigon,” Gupta continued.

The Cynapse CTO concluded, saying “Localscope is a great way to discover places around you and Navigon is probably the best turn by turn navigation app for the iPhone. Together, they make the best Location app combo out there.”

Localscope is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.

Localscope costs $2.99 USD and is available exclusively on the App Store in the Utilities category.

Roughly 4 megabytes in size, the app is immediately available via the link below.
