For the third consecutive iOS firmware update Apple has failed to patch an exploit used to jailbreak the software, according to the iPhone Dev Team whose hacks just got updated with official support for jailbreaking iOS 4.3.3.

Earlier today, Softpedia reported that existing jailbreak tools already provided a way to hack Apple’s new iOS firmware, but lacked official support for it.

Via two updates issued minutes ago, the iPhone Dev Team is proud to announce that all those who’ve updated to a stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW can now jailbreak their devices using PwnageTool 4.3.3 (Mac only) and / or redsn0w 0.9.6rc15 for Mac and Windows.

“… three in a row!  Apple released iOS 4.3.3 on Wednesday, and once again the untethered jailbreak exploit that @i0n1c created for 4.3.1 still works,” reads the team’s latest blog entry.

“That makes it an unprecedented three firmwares where the same userland exploit works.  We’re not exactly sure why Apple hasn’t fixed the hole yet, but we’re not complaining!”, the team writes.

The updated PwnageTool and redsn0w now incorporate everything they need to offer an untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM), iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, iPad 1, and the Apple TV under iOS version 4.3 (build 8F202).

According to the hackers, ultrasn0w unlockers will want to steer clear of redsn0w for now.

“Use only a custom IPSW to update to 4.3.3, to avoid updating your baseband,” the team explains.

The popular unlocking utility ‘ultrasn0w’ has also been updated. Version 1.2.3 is compatible with iOS 4.3.3 and earlier.

However, the ultrasn0w update does not include any new baseband support, the team warns.

Finally, redsn0w now allows users to enable multitasking gestures. Most useful only on iPads, the team asserts, the feature has been implemented by popular demand.

A note regarding the iPad 2 jailbreak is also available. Those eager to hack their second-generation Apple tablets are being told to stay put as all efforts are being made to provide a reliable jailbreak method.
