A Chinese woman claims to have been left injured by her iPhone 5 after talking on the device for 40 minutes. The device reportedly heated up and exploded, sending glass shrapnel into her eyeball.

The woman is surnamed Li and she’s from Dalian, a major city and seaport in the south of Liaoning province, China. She reportedly felt her iPhone getting hot after talking on it for 40 minutes, and when she tried to end the call, the touchscreen was unresponsive.

Then, all of the sudden, the phone exploded sending glass debris into her eyeball. The burst of glass particles could have been the cause of a previous damage to the phone.

Mrs. Li admitted she had dropped the phone on one occasion, leaving it with a small crack on its upper right corner, precisely where the glass particles blew out in the explosion, according to Want China Times.
