A guy dropped his iPhone 3G S in a pool while shooting a video. It’s not the actual dropping of the iPhone that surprised us, but the fact that it kept recording through the whole adventure, and worked well even after the incident. Reportedly, the iPhone in question still works flawlessly to this day. It seems Apple may have taken steps to make the device more waterproof, according to the post over at iClarified.

iPhone 3GS user KhenaKara accidentally dropped his iPhone 3GS into a pool while video recording and amazingly it kept recording,” the post reads. “Days after the event the phone still works fine. It seems Apple may have taken some steps to make the device more watertight,” the report outlines.

Also noteworthy is that not only did the phone continue to record the video, but the mic kept on working as well, along with the autofocus and light-adjusting functions. Sadly for the guy who dropped his iPhone into the pool, the warranty on the device is now void. Should anything happen to the iPhone in the meanwhile, the owner will have to deal with it personally, at his own cost. And here’s why.

“If an iPhone or iPod has been damaged by liquid, the repair is not covered by the Apple one (1) year limited warranty or an AppleCare Protection plan (APP),” Apple says in a Support document last modified on June 03, 2009. “iPhone models and iPod models that were built after 2006 have built-in Liquid Submersion Indicators that will show [...] whether liquid has entered the device [...] The liquid submersion indicator will be activated when it comes in direct contact with liquid,” Apple continues to outline, adding that the indicators are designed not to be triggered by humidity and temperature changes that are within the product's environmental requirements.
