The development team at Treyarch and publisher Activision are getting ready to launch the new Eclipse downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and a new trailer from the two companies offers gamers a quick look at the four new multiplayer maps that will be added to the rotation starting tomorrow.

Initially, the DLC is only being offered on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and those who are playing the first-person shooter on the PC, and the Xbox One will have to wait for it for about a month, because of the exclusivity deal that's currently associated with the franchise.

The four maps that are part of Eclipse are called Rift, Spire, Knockout and Verge, which is a remake of the classic Banzai map from Call of Duty: World at War.

Treyarch says that they are designed to offer very different gameplay experiences and to give plenty of occasions for players to use the complex new movement system that was introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

The Eclipse DLC is also adding a new chapter for the zombie cooperative mode, called Zetsubou No Shima, which takes players to a mysterious island in the Pacific and pits them against new enemies and bosses that will test their ability to work together.

The package is free for those who have the Season Pass, and others gamers will have to pay 15 dollars or Euro for it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will probably also get an extensive patch

Treyarch has not yet talked about any gameplay tweaks for the shooter, but once the DLC is out, the company will also publish patch notes that explain the bugs that it has eliminated and how it is seeking to improve the balance for multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set to get another two major downloadable content packs, both of them probably scheduled to arrive before the end of summer.

Infinity Ward and Activision have already been teasing the next installment in the franchise, which will arrive on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4 before the end of summer.

The two companies have not yet offered a name or any kind of details about story or gameplay, but rumors are saying that a science fiction setting is used and that space battles will play a central part.

An official reveal will take place during the coming E3 2016 event in June.
