14 DAY TRIAL // Indonesian company PT BB Merah Putih has just listed the BlackBerry Aurora on its official website, hence confirming the smartphone is real. Moreover, we've learned that the handset will hit the shelves in mid-March for an affordable price.
According the PT BB Merah Putih, the Aurora will be available for purchase starting March 13 for only $262 outright. Initially, the smartphone will be launched in Indonesia only, and there's no telling whether or not it will be rolled out in other countries.
The good news is customers who pre-order the BlackBerry Aurora for the amount mentioned earlier will also receive a free JBL Go Speaker, as well as a flip case.
The BlackBerry Aurora will ship with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system right out of the box. It features a convenience key and offers dual SIM support, a mandatory feature in emerging markets like Indonesia.
At its core, the Aurora is a mid-range smartphone, but it does come with some high-end features when it comes to the amount of memory.
As previously reported, BlackBerry Aurora is equipped with a low-range 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, which is paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card).
Also, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera that features dual-tone LED flash, and PDAF (phase detection autofocus), as well as a secondary 8-megapixel front-facing camera that includes a LED flash as well.
Moreover, BlackBerry Aurora sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display that supports HD (720p) resolution. The mid-range handset is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery that's supposed to offer up to 20 hours of talk time or up to 10 hours of video playback.
Connectivity-wise, the BlackBerry-branded handset has it all covered, as it packs LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, as well as microUSB 2.0. There's no NFC (Near Field Communication), though.
