A couple of new ZenFone devices are in the pipeline

A new set of ZenFone smartphones could be unveiled early next year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, which is scheduled to kick off on January 5.

Although nothing is certain at the moment, Asus has already released a CES 2017 ZenFone video teaser, which suggests that there's no way it will miss the opportunity to make some solid announcements at the trade fair.

The video teaser even shows an unannounced smartphone that will be unveiled on January 4, 2017, at CES. Unfortunately, Asus does not show any other hints as to what this device could be, so we'll just have to wait a few more weeks for the official reveal.

What we do know is that Asus has another smartphone in the pipeline, one that hasn't been officially unveiled yet. The mysterious device was spotted earlier this month at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, and is known as Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom.

Considering the specs listed at TENAA, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is a mid-range smartphone, which is why we believe that Asus plans to announce something else at CES 2017. It's not worth the trouble of introducing a mid-range device at such an important tech exhibition.

For your information, the ZenFone 3 Zoom has been confirmed to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card).

We're also expecting Asus to launch at least one other variation of the smartphone with more/less memory inside. That's what the Taiwanese company has been doing since the introduction of the ZenFone lineup.

Also, the ZenFone 3 Zoom will sport a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It will come with a dual-camera setup on the back and a generous 4,850 mAh battery inside.

Asus is likely to put Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow inside the ZenFone 3 Zoom, but the phone shown in the video teaser might be the company's first Nougat smartphone. Wouldn't that be great?
