Now that Google released the fourth and last scheduled DP (Development Preview) milestone of its upcoming Android 8.0 mobile operating system, we're waiting for the final version to roll out to supported Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

Google already revealed last month the fact that it plans to launch Android 8.0, which could be dubbed "Oreo," in Q3 2017 to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and ecosystem, making its way immediately to users of Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL devices first.

And now, it looks like the release date of Android 8.0 is not far away, as some well-connected Android reporters, including VentureBeat's Evan Blass, have reported on Twitter that Google could start rolling out the major Android update to supported devices starting August 21, 2017.

Google's Android 7 Nougat OS currently runs only on 13.5% of devices

Android 8.0 will bring a lot of user interfaces and under-the-hood enhancements, as well as many new features like the ability to update your Android device even if there's no space left on it, or support for the latest and greatest Bluetooth 5.0 technologies, which is currently rumored to hit HTC's U11 smartphones.

Of course, Android 8.0 will be supported on all the devices that received the Development Preview (DP) milestones, including Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Google Pixel C, as well as the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones and Nexus Player. The rest of the Android smartphone OEMs will probably follow suit, later this year.

But if you have any other Android smartphone than the one mentioned above, and probably the HTC U11, there's no telling when you'll get the Android 8.0 update on your device considering the fact that Google's Android 7 Nougat OS currrently runs on only 13.5% of devices worldwide.
