Widespread bug that seems to impact quite a lot of users

Microsoft released Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.71 on Monday with a cumulative update, and since it’s only available for fast ring users, it’s clearly prone to some unexpected bugs that you might experience after installing it.

One such bug is impacting the alarm feature, as several users are complaining that the alarm fails to go off on their Windows 10 Mobile devices running build 10586.71.

The same problem has been experienced in previous builds of Windows 10 Mobile too, but after the update to the new version, more users seem to report it.

No workaround right now

A post on reddit confirms that alarms stop working at random times on Windows 10 Mobile, with the problem becoming more frequent on devices that are running the latest builds of the operating system. No workaround seems to be available right now, so Microsoft is expected to fix this on its own with future updates.

“So far I have only heard/read about the alarm issue in W10M. Today it happened to me. It used to work perfectly fine for me since the day 1 i upgraded to W10M. For some reason it failed today, though my battery is at 90%. And this is only second day with the .71 update i received on my 1520. Because of this i was late to my 8 am meeting,” one such post reads, adding that users shouldn’t “trust your alarm in your W10M yet. It may fail you when you need it.”

Windows 10 Mobile handsets are not the only ones suffering from such problems, and both iOS and Android phones were impacted by similar issues in the past.

And given the fact that Windows 10 Mobile is still in the pre-release stage, nobody can blame Microsoft for shipping a build with such bugs because, as Redmond says, preview builds shouldn’t be used on the main phones. And backup phones shouldn’t be used for waking you up in the morning in the first place.
