India is home to some of the cheapest communication devices. The Aakash is the cheapest Android tablet available on the market, while other local handset manufacturers continue to race for the cheapest Android phone.

However, AndroidOS reports that regional handset vendor Noida has just launched the cheapest tablet powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the Zync Z-990.

The slate is equipped with a small 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display (800 x 480 pixels resolution) and a 1.2 GHz probably single-core processor. On the inside, the tablet packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Noida’s Zync Z-990 comes with HDMI port, G sensor and a 3600 mAh Li-Polymer battery. The tablet is now available for purchase via Letsbuy online retailer for only Rs 8,500 (170 USD or 130 EUR).
