George Zimmerman was briefly in custody yesterday for threatening his estranged wife, Shellie, with a weapon. He was released at about 3:45 p.m., when the family refused to press charges.

His wife made a call to police in Lake Mary, Florida claiming that he had a weapon on him. He was allegedly waving it around and threatening her entire family. She also mentioned Zimmerman punching her father in the face.

"He punched my dad in the nose my dad has a mark on the nose. I saw his glasses were on the floor," Shellie Zimmerman says during the call, as conveyed by CBS News.

After speaking to police officers, Shellie retracted her statement and neither her, nor her father stuck to their claims about the gun.

"I don't know if he's going to start shooting at us or something. I don't know what he's capable of. [...] I'm really scared," she has said in her call to the police dispatcher.

Police reserve the right to arrest the suspect after an investigation. Meanwhile, no gun has been found on him or inside the house.

Authorities are looking at the case as a domestic violence incident. During her 911 call, Shellie mentions another witness to the scene. She noted that a city employee witnessed her husband being violent and abusive.

"He then accosted my father then took my iPad out of my hands. He then smashed it and cut it with a pocketknife, and there is a Lake Mary city worker across the street that I believe saw all of it," she describes.

Since the residence is equipped with surveillance cameras, police have requested the security footage in order to rule out the presence of a weapon. The information has been submitted by Zimmerman voluntarily.
