Earlier today we spotted the new Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro lens as available for pre-order on the BHphoto online store, but now the German optics manufacturer has officially announced the new lens as part of the Touit family, which now includes three high-quality lenses.
The Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro is designed for Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras with APS-C format sensors and joins the Touit 2.8/12 and Touit 1.8/32 to satisfy the high expectations of professionals as regards optical quality.
Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro comes with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 75mm and features a complex “floating element” construction with 14 elements in 11 groups that offer increased image quality up to the minimum object distance (MOD).
The construction includes two aspherical and two low-dispersion glass elements that ensure you get a clear, sharp picture with minimum lateral and longitudinal chromatic aberrations.
“The new Touit 2.8/50M is for photographers who already use our other two Touit lenses; it’s the ideal complement to their portfolio. Owners of APS-C system cameras with Sony E- or Fujifilm X-mounts who are looking for a new high-end lens will also want to use the Touit 2.8/50M,” says Dr. Michael Pollmann, product and program manager, ZEISS Camera Lenses.
“Whether a photographer has an eye for the smallest details or likes sharp portraits and pleasing bokeh, our new all-around Touit will definitely be at the top of their wish list,” he added.
The new lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m / 6.02'', weighs 290g / 0.64lbs, and has a length of 91mm / 3.58''. Being a Macro lens, the Touit 50mm f/2.8 comes with a magnification ratio of 1:1, which means that the subject is reproduced on the camera sensor in its original size.
Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro is now available for pre-order at a price of $999 / €755 and will hit market shelves starting March 2014.
