During this year's Mobile World Congress, we had the chance to take a closer look as some highly appealing new handsets, many of which were launched this week, and there still are some that need some attention, such as the lower spec'd ZTE Netphone 501 and Netphone 701, both of which were on the floor at the said expo.

We had the chance to see high-end Android-based devices launched at the MWC 2011 show, including powerful smartphone or brand new tablet PCs, as well as a series of entry-level feature phones aimed at a specific market segment, heavy texters.

The MWC 2011 show was dominated by Android, both on handsets and tablets, though other OSes were also present at the expo, including Samsung's bada or the Brew MP.

Windows Phone was a no show, but Nokia is expected to bring such as device to the market later this year.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the ZTE Netphone 501 and Netphone 701 were not the only handsets that ZTE brought to the congress, and that we already presented the Android 2.3-based ZTE Skate.

Running under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo platform the ZTE Netphone 701 boasts a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution.

The specifications list of this device would also include HSDPA connectivity options, along with WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS receiver, or FM radio.

The mobile phone would also sport a 3.0-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with auto focus, as well as a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

As for the ZTE Netphone 501, it arrives on shelves with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display (240 x 400 pixels), a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, 3G connectivity options, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB port.

The handset also sports a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space, along with GPS receiver, accelerometer, multimedia capabilities, messaging and emails features, and web browsing.

As stated above, these are two affordable handsets from ZTE, though they certainly sport great features, which should prove very appealing to different categories of end users.
