A new mobile application is now available for download via the Android Market, namely YouTube Remote, meant to create a virtual connection between the handset at YouTube Leanback, so that one can control YouTube on a desktop PC or a Google TV straight from the smartphone.

According to the development team, all that users would need to do to pair the device with the Leanback screen is to sign into the YouTube Remote app on the handset with the same account as on YouTube Leanback on Google TV or desktop computer.

“Just like that, you've connected your powerful multi-touch Android screen with the biggest screen in your home,” a recent post on YouTube Mobile Blog reads.

“Once connected, you can use the rich browse and discovery interface on YouTube Remote to find and queue up videos to watch, and send them all to Leanback with a single tap. With YouTube Remote you can play, pause, skip forward and back and even control the sound volume.”

According to the development team, the application is only in a beta flavor at the moment, and comes with a series of new, experimental features, which can not be found in the official YouTube Android app.

“Please give us your feedback and help us improve the product - we'll integrate the best features from this beta app into the official YouTube Android app in the coming months,” the company continues.

The new YouTube Remote application was made available for download via the Android Market, and can be downloaded only on Android devices in the United States fro the time being.

However, the development team notes that they plan on making it available for more Android users in the near future.

“It’s currently available only in the US but we’re working hard to make the app available in more countries very soon. To download, scan the QR code below or go to the Android Market app on your phone and search for 'YouTube Remote',” the said blog post continues.
