Yahoo! has just announced that owners of Nokia mobile phones can now enjoy the company's services while on the go, part of a strategic alliance that Yahoo! and Nokia announced last year.

A few months ago, the Yahoo! and Nokia announced the transition of Nokia Mail and Messaging to Yahoo!. The transition resulted in these services being “powered by Yahoo!,” the duo notes.

In early April, Nokia announced that the Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat services would be moved to Yahoo! as part of the said agreement between the two, and that users have at their disposal 90 days to make the switch.

“For Nokia users around the globe, the universe just became a bit smarter and more social because their users are now benefiting from Yahoo!’s industry-leading Mail and Messenger platforms,” Yahoo! notes in a recent blog post.

“That’s right, we’ve extended the benefits of Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger to Nokia mail and chat users and those services are now officially 'powered by Yahoo!'.”

At the same time, the company notes that Nokia users can benefit from access to other services from it as well.

“Another huge benefit: people can also use their Nokia IDs to easily access and engage with content and services from across Yahoo!, such as Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! Finance, and more.”

All of these enhancements, complemented by a series of improvements the company announced for Yahoo! Mail, should come as great news for people who use Nokia phones as their primary communication devices.

Starting today, these features would come to all users around the world, offering them a faster, easier, safer, and more social communications experience, Yahoo! continues.

“We think these enhancements, including all of the new Yahoo! Mail features announced today, will be especially exciting to people around the world where Nokia phones are the must-have communications device – from across India and South East Asia to the Middle East and Latin America,” the said blog post reads.
