Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, the high-end Android-based smartphone that was announced during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January, is set to make an official appearance on the market in Australia starting with next month.

Apparently, at least three of the wireless carriers would add the new smartphone to their offerings, including Optus, Three and Vodafone, though specific info on the matter has yet to emerge.

The smartphone was spotted in Allphones Buyer’s Guide not too long ago, along with two other appealing Android devices, the LG Optimus 2X and the Optimus Me.

Previously, Sony Ericsson confirmed plans to have its latest Xperia devices available for purchase in Australia, but specific info on their availability has yet to emerge.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc should hit the said three carriers next month, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia neo was said recently to be on its way to Telstra before the first half of the year is over.

Moreover, the new Xperia arc is available for pre-order in Australia via MobiCity (via Ausdroid), so those who would like to make sure they get one should go there to reserve one unit.

The Xperia arc arrives on shelves with a large 4.2 inch (854 x 480 pixels FWVGA) Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, said to offer a great experience when it comes to viewing content on it.

The specifications list of this device also includes a 1 GHz Qualcomm application processor, as well as 512 MB of internal memory, and a miocroSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper on the back – Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor – with LED flash, auto focus, and HD 720p video recording capabilities.

Measuring 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm and weighing in at 117 grams, the handset also sports 3.5 mm audio jack, DLNA, HDMI, aGPS, and support for various services from Google, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
