Mobile phone carrier Orange UK has added to its online store a new Android-based handset, the black Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, which seems to be exclusive to this carrier, and which has just emerged in a series of live photos.

The handset can be seen on Orange UK's website here, featuring the same specs and capabilities as other colored flavors of the smartphone.

However, the main selling point of the new mobile phone is, of course, its black casing, which is unique, the same as the white one, which was spotted not too long ago, would be.

When looking at the Xperia arc Black from the front, one would have difficulties distinguishing it from the Midnight Blue flavor of the device, but the back cover would prove that they are indeed different, as a recent post on XperiaBlog reads.

The handset also sports the Orange logo on the back, and can be seen listed on the wireless carrier's website, here.

“Sony technology fused with an Android 2.3 operating system and encased in an ultra-slim design makes for a powerful smartphone, and that is exactly what the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc Black is,” the wireless carrier notes.

“With a 4.2-inch LED-backlit multi-touch display boasting 16 million colors, accessing the net and communicating with friends is easy. Add an 8.1-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R technology and you can capture high quality photos and video even in low light.”

The Android-based mobile phone also comes to the market with WiFi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP connectivity capabilities, as well as with HSDPA 7.2Mbps support.

Moreover, the new device arrives on shelves with HD Voice, FM radio RDS, GPRS, A-GPS, TrackID music recognition, and with great multimedia capabilities, complemented by support for various services and applications available for Android.

For the time being, Orange UK is the only carrier known to have plans for this phone's launch, but it might land in more markets and at more operator's too in the near future.
