Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has recently unveiled officially its latest Windows Mobile-powered handset, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, a Windows phone (runs under the 6.5 iteration of Microsoft's platform) that was said to come to the market in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year. While no details on the pricing of the device have been unveiled officially, some rumors in this direction already emerged, and some are more discouraging than others, that's for sure.

For example, a rumor that surfaced about a week ago pointed towards a price tag for the Xperia X2 that might have been set in the $1,000 - $1,200 range. Quite expensive, one should agree, yet it seems that it was only a rumor after all, and the handset will be priced a little lower. To be more precise, WMPoweruser, citing Solopalmari, says that the Windows phone will come to the shelves priced at 590 or 600 Euros, or about $880.

On the other hand, we should also mention that the online retailer eXpansys UK listed the Xperia X2 device for £604.99 (not Euros), which should be around $1,000 USD. According to Solopalmari, the price it has just unveiled comes directly from a Sony Ericsson senior executive, so we hope that this is the actual cost of the handset. Especially since it is also the lowest one.

For the time being, there are no exact details on when the Xperia X2 will actually land on the market, though speculations placed its release both it the fourth quarter of the ongoing year and in the first quarter of the next. The company is quite likely to launch it in Q4 2009, so enthusiasts can hope that the phone will be here before holidays. As nothing is yet official, you should stick around to learn when the Xperia X2 will hit the market and with what price tag.
