14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, the first mobile phone in the world to sport PlayStation certification, is now available for purchase in the UK on the airwaves of wireless carrier O2.
The mobile phone was expected to arrive on shelves at the wireless services provider ever since early April, but various issues with its software determined the carrier to postpone the release.
However, now the mobile phone is listed as available for acquisition through the wireless operator, dressed up in black and while coats.
The white flavor of Xperia PLAY, which can be seen at O2 here, is available on monthly plans with a price tag of free to £299.99 attached to it. The mobile phone can be purchased on Pay As You Go for £429.99.
The black variant of the new mobile phone is available on O2's website here, with the same price tag attached to it.
O2 customers interested in the purchase of the new device from the carrier's website would also benefit from a series of special offers put in place for them.
“Buy the new Xperia Play and download 3 bonus games exclusive to O2. Plus get a free multimedia dock worth £29.99 (online only, while stocks last),” O2 states.
The new mobile phone arrives at O2 with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, and with support for a range of specifically designed games for it, including PlayStation games that have been included in the Android Market recently.
The Xperia PLAY sports a 4-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a sliding gamepad with the usual PlayStation controls on it, and packs a fast 1GHz application processor inside.
It also comes with support for 3G connectivity, as well as for WiFi and Bluetooth, with the usual set to sensors, and with a built-in GPS receiver.
In addition to offering support for the said games, the new mobile phone would also enable users to access various Google Mobile services, as well as a great deal of applications available through the Android Market.
