Sources inside Microsoft say that the Xbox One home console is designed to stay continuously powered for a ten-year period, in order to make it easier for players to access content at a moment’s notice.

Digital Foundry cites an anonymous developer working on the new gaming platform who says that one of the biggest problems of the 360 is that it takes time to power it up and launch a game.

The Xbox One will remain in a standby state that gives gamers fast access to their content and allows the various development teams to quickly deliver updates without prompting players to download them.

Microsoft is also aiming to make the device as quiet as possible, which might account for the size of the box and its shape.

The Xbox One is set to launch in November for 499 dollars.
