Why would Microsoft leak vital information such as this to a small Spanish website?

According to a rather small Spanish website, Microsoft's Xbox 360 Elite will be launching in Spain on the 24th of August for the price of ?449.95, bringing it to 302 in Pounds, as I've picked up on this story via 360Gamer. Now, leaving aside that Microsoft wouldn't, under any circumstances, leak vital information such as this to a little website like Latrifuerza.com, we have little reason to believe such happenings are to occur, even less as the story has been recently withdrawn from the website.

That's right - according to the British site - the Spanish site has pulled their story due to one reason or another. It may very well be because Microsoft themselves probably contacted the Spanish website and demanded pulling the story immediately, as such news may have influenced competitors Sony and Nintendo, prompting them to take action and do something in return, ensuring better sales for their respective consoles, the PS3 and Wii... NOT!

Come on! Do you honestly think that Microsoft is that stupid as to divulge plans of releasing the Elite in PAL territory Europe, in August? I think not. They can barely get themselves to talk some facts and comment on rumors, so for news on the Elite launching in Europe this summer to come through a rather small Spanish website and not the E3 or the Leipzig Games Convention, it's quite far fetched.

Not that we'd dismiss the rumor either. Heck, we're Europeans - let us have the black-cased-120GB-HDD-packed-HDMI-enabled Xbox 360 Elite right now, retailing for 500 Euros if you will, we don't mind. However, until Microsoft comes with an official statement (which they won't), we are prompted to remain skeptical about this rumor.

But let me ask you this: why would Microsoft even launch the Elite in Europe? Not that there wouldn't be some gamers who'd rather have 120 gigs of space on their console's hard drive, but will Europeans go for it? I didn't hear anyone crying for the Elite here in Europe. Microsoft will release it here too some time, no doubt about it, but not so soon I reckon. Autumn or Christmas the soonest, that's when people buy stuff like crazy.
