XOmobo has launched a D2C portal to offer content only for the smartphones available on the market. The service will initially target the Windows Mobile users but later on it wil also include Symbian, Palm and Blackberry devices. The site is going to let the customers browse, buy and download content straight to the handsets without the need of using a PC.

XOmobo hopes that the 5 million people in the UK that own a smartphone and the rest of 64 million gadgets shipped annually, are going to be enough to assure the company's future success on the market.

Everything that the customer purchases can be billed through the operator or credit card. Don't know if that's such a good idea, with all the extra charges involved in the operation.

"Smartphones, from Microsoft Mobile to Symbian, are forming an ever increasing part of the mobile handset market and these devices' easy to use Internet access, increased processing power and larger screen sizes mean that they're ideal for purchasing and consuming content and applications."stated keith France, managing director of Xomobo.

The mobile site is perfect if you own a handset running Windows Mobile. The site is said to be the first one that has smartphone content and applications. It is a portal that offers a funny mix of ringtones, wallpapers, themes, videos and everything a real smart guy needs.

The company that lauched the site is in Uk and is called Smart Devices. For those who don't own a Windows Mobile powered smartphone, the site is planning to offer content for Symbian, Palm and BlackBerry devices.
