Telstra will bring the best of Next G technology with the introduction of six mobile phones that will use this technology. As a result, the operator's Next G range will grow around one third, including some handsets capable of offering the world's fastest 3GSM data download speeds.

7.2Mbps is currently the highest data transfer speed
that carriers can provide for their customers. Telstra will make this technology possible through Samsung A811 and the Samsung A821, which will make the best of its recently launched super-fast Next G wireless broadband cards.

Next G technology will be perfect for Samsung A821, which is also mobileTV enabled. The handset features a dual hinge widescreen, for watching video in either portrait or landscape modes. Samsung A811, on the other hand, delivers the same high speed performance in a stylish, ultra slim slider handset design.

"Mobile phones have entered a new phase of development and evolved into multi-functional media devices. With the higher download data speeds on Telstra's Next G™ network, customers can take full advantage of richer mobile content and more advanced applications", said Holly Kramer, Telstra Product Management Group Managing Director.

"While the rapidly evolving mobile technology is exciting, we are taking great care to keep the customer at the forefront of our thinking, matching our wireless products, content and applications to the varied needs of our customers. Customers will now be able to choose from 23 Next G handsets and the range will continue to grow in line with the increasing number of Australians using the Next G" network" Holly Kramer further added.

Aside from these mobile phones, the operator will also bring the Telstra 165 Country Phone and Nokia N95. Telstra has also launched Nokia E51 and Samsung A551. Both Nokia handsets will be available in stores starting mid-November.
