Mobile web developer Andy Moore has partnered with AdMob, the mobile Internet advertising marketplace, to launch a free plug-in for the blogging tool WordPress. The new plug-in will enable the global WordPress community to quickly go mobile and also generate income from advertising via AdMob.

WordPress is a popular open source blogging tool used by thousands of blogs, including TechCrunch, MobileCrunch, Venturebeat and Schobelizer. Andy Moore, a dotmobi certified mobile web developer who has been deploying ringtones and music downloads for several years at Web2Text, has built the plug-in that allows WordPress bloggers to extend their reach by publishing for mobile phones. The tool also provides configuration of pages leveraging .mobi and W3C standards. The WordPress plug-in integrates AdMob code that gives bloggers the option to include ads in their posts, enabling them to monetize their mobile traffic. A real-time reporting feature allows bloggers to track their earnings.

"This is an exciting development for the blogging community. Bloggers around the world can now take advantage of a new plug-in and generate revenues from their content straightway. There's no need to dabble with code either," said Russell Buckley, Managing Director, AdMob Europe.

"We aim to reduce the entry level to mobile publishing by making it easy for WordPress users to go mobile and reap the rewards of AdMob's advertising in just a few clicks," said Andy Moore. "This plug-in lets bloggers adhere to standards without having extra knowledge or getting their hands dirty in any code. It's easy to publish to mobile in a matter of seconds."
