A few weeks ago, Redmond-based software giant Microsoft started to push out a new software update for the users of its Windows Phone 7 operating system. It was only a minor update but it caused quite some problems, and it seems that the company is determined to make sure that that does not happen again.

Since then, the company started the delivery of another software update for Windows Phone 7, the so-called NoDo, which brings Copy&paste functionality into the mix, along with other enhancements.

The update process for the second software reportedly went better than the first time, and the new tool seems to have been released to make sure that even more issues are resolved with it.

According to a support article on Microsoft's website, users would be able to take advantage of a Windows Phone Support Tool for resolving some issues with their devices.

Among these issues, Microsoft notes the following error codes: 800705B4: The timer ran out on what we were trying to do. 80180080: We couldn't update your phone because your operating system might be corrupt.

The new tool has been released to make sure that users are able to complete the installation of software updates on their Windows Phone 7 devices.

“The Windows Phone Support Tool is an application that fixes problems that prevent your Windows Phone 7 from updating successfully. The tool only works for the two error codes listed in the Symptoms section,” Microsoft notes.

Basically, in case the update process fails due to other issues, and users receive an error code different from the two mentioned above, the tool is useless.

The application would require for the mobile phone to be connected to a Windows based computer. However, it seems that Microsoft made it available for download for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

You can learn more info on the Windows Phone Support Tool through heading to this support article on Microsoft's website. The app is available for download from there as well.
