Windows Mobile 6.5 has been released into the wild, and it is reported to feature a brand new honeycomb app launcher. According to the CompuLab software team, the Windows Mobile 6.5 has been installed so as “to demonstrate just how friendly to developers exeda is.” In addition, it has also stated that the new OS is in the Alpha stage of development, yet it has been installed “the same day it was released.”

We have recently seen a leaked version of Microsoft's mobile operating system in the wild, running on an HTC handset, however we are now looking at an official release of the OS. In addition, exeda is supposed to appeal to developers a lot, mainly due to the fact that it comes with a special development platform.

According to recent news, exeda is able to provide developers with an open source u-boot bootloader, detailed hardware and software documentation, Full BSP’s, a 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, a JTAG interface, RS-232, as well as an Unlocked SIM. In addition, it features support for Windows Mobile 6.1, Android, Windows CE 6 and Angstrom Linux, and compatibility with other operating systems might also be added in the future.

Exeda comes with a 3.5 inch VGA sun-readable display with touch screen, a full QWERTY keypad with backlight, and it also includes a unique capacitive touchpad, which can act as a mouse. The device thus becomes one of the best options for reading, browsing and data entry purposes. A built-in GPS and external antennas, a 2-megapixel camera with flash, as well as a microSD socket with SDHC support are also present with the product.

The device is powered by a Marvell PXA270 520MHz CPU and sports 128MB RAM, along with 2 banks of internal FLASH of 512MB each. Exeda also includes a built-in microphone and speaker, as well as a 3.5mm stereo jack, and a high capacity 3000mAh battery.
