On an AT&T Tilt 2

Windows Mobile 6.5.1, the platform version that Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is expected to unleash into the wild before Windows Mobile 7, is seeing newer and newer leaked builds every day, some of which also come around with cooked ROMs for a series of Windows Mobile-based mobile phones available on the market.

The OS flavor is expected to bring a little color to Windows Mobile, at least in the visual experience area, and most of you might be already aware of the fact that the development on WM 6.5.1 has been started for quite some time now and that steady progress has been spotted with the various builds that are already available for download for those who would like to give the platform a try.

Windows Mobile handsets that come with a stock ROM do not have too much to offer when it comes to the fun a user could have, mainly due to the wide range of customizations carriers pack them up with, yet the cooked ROMs are set to offer a new perspective on the OS. Moreover, since these ROMs bring along Windows Mobile 6.5.1, the experience is enhanced even more.

One of the latest Windows Mobile 6.5.1 builds that have seen a cooked ROM is 23071.5.3.0, and the guys over at WMExperts published a screenshot with it, saying that it also shows a new TouchFLO 3D user interface. Both the OS build and the UI look quite attractive, and the news site says that one should really give the build a try, for it might change the experience one has with Microsoft's OS.

The Windows Mobile 6.5.1 ROM (Build 23071.5.3.0) came from XDA Developers, and has been installed on an AT&T Tilt 2 (which was put on sale a few days ago, with Windows Mobile 6.5 pre-loaded on it). We do not encourage you to go for leaked builds and cooked ROMs, especially if you are not familiar with the installation process, though we should agree that WM 6.5.1 seems like a nice option until WM 7 will be here.
