Wii-Pandemic Studios Getting All Innocent on Us

- The developer has Wii in mind for their next title, although childish is not exactly their style

The Wii is getting yet another kid's title, like it didn't have enough of them, and this time it's from Pandemic
Studios
. I know what you're thinking. What does Pandemic know about kid games, right? Well, even if they're the creators of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, the guys are pretty keen over there at Pandemic Studios, in making games for Nintendo's Wii, so of course, as "the Nintendo rule book" says, it' going to have to be a childish, innocent one. Just like a unicorn.

At the GDC 07, according to NeoGAF, Chief Executive Andrew Goldman said: "Pandemic Studios [...] is quietly developing a concept title for the Wii that could attract younger players. The problem with the game business a couple of years ago is it had just gotten stale. We'd lost ground to MySpace.com NWS and other places where there were innovative experiences being developed," he says. "The Wii does something new, and draws people back in."

Right...like that's the real reason for which Pandemic has Wii in mind. Come on, isn't it obvious? Games for the Wii sell like hot cake. Plus, they're trying to look like they're really hurt and getting up on their feet again, when they probably had a title for the Wii in their plans a long time ago. But they're right about one thing though: the Wii does do something new, only it doesn't draw people "back in," it just draws people, pure and simple.

Anyway, Pandemic Studios has yet about 6 titles in development, so let's hope to God they don't all turn kiddie and hit the Wii. The developer has proven that its games have true potential. Getting all innocent on us wouldn't be a smart move on their behalf.
