The slate is available for purchase through major carriers

Motorola Mobility, freshly owned by Google, has just announced the immediate availability of XOOM 2 Media Edition tablet in Peru.

According to Motorola, only the Wi-Fi version of XOOM 2 Media Edition is now available for purchase via major carriers in Peru.

Although the tablet has been confirmed to be delivered with Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system out of the box, Motorola notes that an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be available later this year.

[ADDMARK=1]Unlike its Motorola XOOM 2 sister the Media Edition version comes with a slightly smaller 8.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that support 800 x 1280 pixels resolution. The slate's display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

The US-based company claims the display has been “especially optimized for entertainment apps, it has a wide, 178 degree viewing angle.”

It is also worth mentioning the tablet comes pre-installed with the latest Google Mobile Services, including Google Maps, Google Talk, as well as Google Play and access to more than 450,000 apps and games.

A number of accessories for the XOOM 2 Media Edition allow users to enhance their mobile experience. The tablet can be connected a HD Multimedia Station, or content can be displayed on an HDTV.

Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition is powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, which is complemented by an PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The slate will be available in Peru with 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
