Last night was a huge night on British singing televised competition X Factor, as it included the first-ever performance in the UK in 12 years of “comeback diva” Whitney Houston. Whitney performed one of her recent singles, the up-tempo “Million Dollar Bill,” and, despite a somewhat embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, she put on an amazing show. It wasn’t until the end of it, when the interview started, that things got awkward, as the Telegraph informs.

Whitney took to the stage in a silver, sparkly, floor-length dress that she had to lift off the ground in order to move around. Yet, she did not let that stop her from dancing and showing the audience and the viewers at home that she did not and would never need sophisticated dance moves to “feel” the music.
Not even a potentially very embarrassing wardrobe malfunction stopped Houston from giving a class-A performance, albeit she did stop throwing her hands up in the air as energetically as before.

Fans of the show agree that Whitney put on a wonderful show on last night’s edition of X Factor, reports in the British media suggest. Not the same can be said, though, about her interview with host Dermot O’Leary, which took place after she sang and of which many said it was weird, as if Whitney had “spaced out.” It all started with Houston joking she had “sang [her]self out of [her] dress,” and continued with her taking a very long time before answering questions, as if she didn’t know where she was or what she was supposed to say.

“Questions were also raised about Houston’s physical condition as she looked drowsy and did not speak clearly when being interviewed by host Dermot O’Leary. Fans have inundated the show’s official website to express their shock at the performance. One fumed: ‘What a huge waste of her talent. People should watch and learn what harm one can do to ones self. I hope for Whitney and all her fans she gets a grip and rejoins this planet.’ Another, using the name _kelcee_, said: ‘Not sure what was going on with whitney what a huge let down.’” the Telegraph writes.

One instance in particular seemed to enrage fans the most, as Whitney appeared not to be aware of the UK release date of her own album, telling O’Leary, “Album? It should be released this week.” Below is the video of Whitney Houston performing “Million Dollar Bill” on X Factor, as well as a bit of the following interview. Watch and make up your own mind about her “condition,” as the British media calls it.
