“I want to tell my story, I want to tell the truth.” Whitney Houston says during interview with Oprah

In her first revealing interview in many years, singing sensation Whitney Houston has opened up to the queen of television, Oprah Winfrey, for an episode that will air on September 14. In it, the singer talks openly about all the aspects of her life that have been subject to much speculation in the media in recent years, including her heavy drug use and subsequent addiction, her marriage and what made it all crumble apart, as ABC News can confirm.

“It will leave you gasping. At one point she says, ‘I didn’t get out of my pyjamas for seven months.’ She said, ‘I want to tell my story, I want to tell the truth.’” Oprah said in a new teaser for what will certainly be one of the most shocking and, at the same time, touching interviews of our time, as some have called it. Houston also admitted to the talk show host that she did not blame her husband, Bobby Brown, for her addiction or anything that went wrong in her life, and that only when she learned to accept responsibility for her actions was she finally able to seek and get help.

“She gave it up. She talked about difficulty in her marriage [to Bobby Brown], how that started. She talked about the drugs, she talked about what drugs she was doing... There wasn’t a question I asked that she didn’t answer. I think it’s because of her strong faith in God and the support of her family that she made it through.” Oprah further said of the interview she recently did with Whitney. She also mentioned an explanation offered by the singer as to how she finally went to rehab, following her mother’s intervention.

Just yesterday, it emerged that Oprah had also said that the sit-down she did with Houston was probably the best interview she had ever done in her career. This came to be because she had decided only to lead Whitney to certain topics of interest and then allow her to speak freely, which she did. Nevertheless, not even Oprah was prepared for the honesty with which the singer poured her heart out – and, in all fairness, it takes a lot to impress “The Big O,” given her experience so far.
