One of the most anticipated releases of the upcoming year, Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor,” is being boycotted by a hate group called The Council of Conservative Citizens, which has taken serious offense at Idris Elba playing Norse god Heimdall.

Of course, fans of the Marvel comics who have kept an eye on headlines about “Thor” since it went into production, know that this goes back all the way up to April this year – but it’s now that the protesters are getting more vicious.

They oppose the idea of having Marvel cast a black actor for a white character, when it’s already agreed that the comics were essentially white, a post on the group’s official page says.

Doing so amounts to “social engineering” and sending the message that there is literally not much white people can still call their own, without having blacks interfere, says the hate group.

By casting Elba, Marvel declares “war on Norse mythology” because the upcoming film gives “an insulting multi-cultural make-over” to the original comic.

“It’s not enough that Marvel attacks conservatives values, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin,” reads the post.

“It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. An upcoming movie, based on the comic book Thor, will give Norse mythology an insulting multi-cultural make-over. One of the Gods will be played by Hip Hop DJ Idris Elba,” the post further says.

It then links to a boycott page, which goes to argue that casting Elba as Heimdall, a god pictured as white in the Marvel comics, is social engineering at its best and must be stopped.

The boycott site also includes an open letter to Marvel, in which the studio is asked to immediately recast the part with a white actor. So far, no response from Marvel.

However, while fans are quite hyped about the film, saying the trailer promised to deliver the goods, Gawker says it’s not the boycott that will make “Thor” flop but its very quality.

“Unfortunately for the white race, the joke is on the council: Everyone is going to boycott Thor, because it looks really dumb,” Gawker writes.
