Vodafone UK has just confirmed that Google’s Nexus S will soon be available in its stores across the country, in both black and white colors. They will be the first European carrier to offer the smartphone directly, joining retailers Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy UK in rolling out the Android 2.3 phone.

According to the carrier, Vodafone UK will have exclusivity over the White variant of the smartphone, but no information was disclosed regarding the exclusivity period.

Furthermore, it is unclear whether or not both versions will have the same price, or when the Nexus S hits Vodafone UK's shelves.

However, rumors suggest that Nexus S might be picked by other carriers as well, as soon as Vodafone UK makes the smartphone available.

The first photos with the Nexus S dressed up in white have emerged two weeks ago, along with rumors of a possible Vodafone UK release.

Nexus S is the first smartphone launched on the market with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 512 MB RAM.

It comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Nexus S lacks Gorilla Glass protection display, instead it features an oleophobic surface, contour display with curved glass screen, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and three-axis gyro sensor.

Other highlights of the smartphone include: a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, video recording capabilities (WVGA@30fps), as well as secondary VGA camera, 16GB of internal memory, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, NFC (Near Field Communications) technology and GPS with A-GPS support.

In addition, Samsung and Google have confirmed that the phone will be available in Italy for €549 sometime in February.
