When wealthy people go on shopping sprees, they might come back home with overpriced items

This week we have learned that toilet rolls are not just simple papers anymore, as a German designer has turned them into luxury products after embossing them with 24-carat gold motifs. This made me wonder what a shopping list for a super rich person might contain given the wide variety of ridiculously expensive everyday items that are available on the market nowadays.

For most regular people, a good spending spree consists of some bottles of booze, a fancy dinner or some classy clothes, but when the super rich go on shopping sprees, they might come back home with some pretty extravagant products that are usually indecently overpriced, and sometimes they prove to be ridiculous or useless.

To give you an idea of what kind of products you could buy if you were a billionaire, I scoured the Internet and tracked down some ridiculously expensive everyday items you could blow your wad on.

Besides the toilet paper embossed with 24-karat gold motifs that we discovered this week, there is also a three-ply toilet paper made from gold, which features gold flakes that run throughout it and is valued at a whopping $1,376,900 (€1,004,000).

Australian company Toilet Paper Man produced this unique toilet roll, which is sure to make your bathroom a standout space. Although its designers say that is 100 percent usable and safe, I wonder if anyone would ever use this kind of toilet paper for its intended purpose knowing that it is so shockingly expensive.

And given that there is no fun in being incredibly rich unless you are also incredibly flashy, the uber-rich could also add the gold rucksack by the Billionaire Boys Club to their list, which features their trademark diamond dollar pattern and goes for just $1,650 (€1,204).

When it comes to gadgets and accessories, the shopping list for the rich might include some earbuds that cost more than a computer. I’m talking about a pair of 18-karat gold and diamond earphones that feature 118 high-quality diamonds. Although they have some extra weight, the earbuds are said to be just as comfortable as the cheap plastic one. The big difference is the price though, as the luxurious set costs $5,175 (€3,376).

But given that gold is flimsy and sometimes ostentatious, a Baltimore-based company created a $279 (€203) carbon fiber toilet seat that will certainly be around longer than you will.

For fishing hobbyists, the list might also contain the Million Dollar Fishing Lure – the world’s most expensive fishing lure. It is made of both gold and platinum and it’s adorned with over four thousand diamonds and rubies, weighing in at 100 karats total. Three pounds (1.36 kg) of platinum means it’s sure to sink fast, but I doubt it would help you catch a million dollar fish.

You’ve probably heard of the $250,000 (€182,440) shirt made entirely from gold that was commissioned by an Indian rich man with an affinity for gold. If designer clothes don’t suit you anymore and you have a fortune to spare on gold garments, this might turn into the next fashion trend.

Talking about fashion, the haute couture world knows no bounds, as it is proved by a pair of sunglasses made by Swiss luxury House Chopard. Obviously, the sunglasses include gold and diamonds, and are believed to be the most expensive in the world, with the speculated price being estimated at around $408,496 (€298,106).

Last but not least on my list is a tiny fountain pen known as The Aurora Diamante. The pen is more of a jewel than a pen, as it is covered with over 30 karats of De Beers diamonds on a solid platinum barrel. The classy product has a two-tone, rhodium-treated, 18-karat solid gold nib, can be personalized with a coat of arms, signature, or portrait, and it’s priced at over €1 million ($1.3 million).

And the list might continue with many others obnoxiously overpriced items, but seriously, who would spend that much money on these things?

However, for those of you with ambitions at fame, fortune and untold riches, this is what you have to look forward to once you have bought everything else that exists on the market.
