Although most TV buffs and movie affectionados will love nothing more than to own a big screen HDTV, the truth of the matter is that such solutions are usually to expensive for the most of us, so Westinghouse's 55-inch VR-5585DFZ LCD TV comes as a nice alternative for all those of us that don't want to reach that deep into our pockets to own such a beast.

Arriving just in time for the Holiday seasons, the $979 VR-5585DFZ is Westinghouse's latest big screen offering and it packs a high definition, Full HD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

This is further improved with the help of the MEMC (motion estimation/motion compression) technology to ensure smooth images by reducing judder and blur, the image quality being also enhanced thanks to a variety of filters including 3D noise reduction and inverse 3:2 pull down.

As is the case with most other LCD TVs available out there, the VR-5585DFZ also comes with different user selectable color profiles.

Ample connectivity is also a given since this HDTV comes with 3 HDMI inputs, two component video inputs and analog A/V connections, pretty much covering all the angles in this aspect.

Other features include a parental control mode, sleep timer function as well as PC inputs, the panel used by Westinghouse inside this TV coming with a pretty fast 5ms response time.

"A superb high-definition HDTV in a large size shouldn't be beyond anyone's reach, and with Westinghouse it doesn't have to be.

Our new VR-5585DFZ 55" HDTV will bring a new level of entertainment excitement to more homes than ever, with the kind of performance and styling that consumers have come to expect from much costlier brands," said Rey Roque, Vice President of Marketing at Westinghouse.

As far as availability is concerned this can be purchased from a large number of retailers, online as well as brick and mortar, some stores listing it for as low as $799. (via audioholics)
