We're near the start of September and that means that the big releases of the fall will soon be upon us. Get ready for the big games to arrive and to spend quite a bit of your disposable income buying titles like Call of Duty, Gran Turismo 5, Medal of Honor, Little Big Planet 2 or Fable III.

There are a lot of people who will be playing Medal of Honor, from DICE and Electronic Arts, and Call of Duty: Black Ops, from Treyarch and Activision, during the next few months.

Some of them will only get through the single player and some will also engage in multiplayer matches but it's highly unlikely that a significant number of them will take a break from their first person shooting to try out something like Civilization V.

The same is likely to be true for those who will enjoy Fable III to its fullest, with little resources left (time and money alike) to also pick up something like Gran Turismo 5.

I find myself more interested in strategy titles and I too have my plate pretty full, with the new game from Firaxis being the biggest draw of the coming months for me.

But I could also use some more time to spend with the Semper Fi expansion of Hearts of Iron III, trying some of the minor powers and maybe even a game as the USSR (something I rarely do in World War II titles).

I will certainly need to play more Victoria II, also from Paradox Interactive, a game that will get a new patch to solve some of the minor post launch issue and will start to get heavily modded by the enthusiastic community.

And there's the huge amount of mods that are available for Civilization IV and its Beyond the Sword expansion, like the one which focuses on Dune and has recently been brought to my attention.

I am actually afraid of approaching Puzzle Quest 2 mainly because of the number of hours I could find myself losing to this game, especially given my addiction like history with the first one.

And, of course, once 2010 is done there's always the Second Christmas period of 2011 to look forward to.
