According to Qihoo360, the websites of most universities in Shanghai, the Chinese city that has the largest population in the world, have been attacked by hackers.

The company, which specializes in online security, reveals that the average website security score for Shanghai universities is 55 out of 100.

In fact, two thirds of all universities have failed their security checks, Xinhuanet informs.

For instance, hackers breached the systems of the Shanghai University of Engineering Science 25 times, of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University 23 times, and the Fudan University was penetrated by cybercriminals 17 times.

The websites of universities from Shanghai have been attacked, on average, 113 times per day since the beginning of this month.

Chinese universities are often targeted by hackers, particularly hacktivists. For instance, around one year ago, Team GhostShell leaked 150,000 user credential sets from the systems of one educational institution.
