Nordic Games Publishing AB has announced that it plans to release We Sing, its upcoming karaoke-oriented singing videogame, on October 30 for the Nintendo Wii, allowing players to enjoy no less than 30 tracks in a variety of game modes designed to allow for maximum fun.

The developer has also revealed five new tracks that will be featured in the game, with Aqua offering up “Barbie Girl,” Blondie contributing with “One Way Or Another,” Chesney Hawks delivering “The One And Only,” Culture Club delivering “Karma Chameleon” and with Duran Duran showing up with “Hungry Like The Wolf.”

We Sing clearly targets a wider group of gamers that like Guitar Hero or Rock Band, which tend to focus on more guitar driven music and ignore pop tunes. The decision to put the title out on the Nintendo Wii could also help Nordic Games Publishing AB attract a segment of players that might not be interested in more complex music simulation like those put out by Activision or by Harmonix.

The title is set to offer three very different experiences. Solo is for those who are interesting in practicing their vocal capabilities on their own, Party allows four players to sing at the same time, while Karaoke essentially turns the Nintendo Wii into a machine which can deliver karaoke style songs to all those present. Additionally, the Party version offers five different modes, with such self-explanatory titles as We Sing, Versus Mode, Group Battle, Pass the Mic and First to 5,000 points.

With We Sing being released in the run up to Christmas, it will be interesting to see whether a third-party music-oriented videogame can attract players in a way that Wii Music, the game developed by Nintendo itself that failed to meet expectations. We Sing offers a more focused experience, which might prove to be one of the main selling points once it is out.
