Electronic Arts and GigaMedia, an online entertainment provider, have entered into an agreement to distribute the MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The game, based on Games Workshop's fantasy world, comes from the creators of the Dark Age of Camelot MMORPG, Mythic Entertainment.

The game will immerse the Asian players in a world of perpetual conflict, featuring the innovative Realm vs. Realm game mode, together with the classic MMO modes. GigaMedia will provide marketing, community management, technical support, and customer service functions for the customers. And this is not the only title that will be brought to Asia by the two companies - last November, a partnership to distribute NBA Street Online was announced.

Arthur M. Wang, CEO of GigaMedia, said: "We are pleased and honored to become EA's operating partner on another groundbreaking online game. GigaMedia will bring this most anticipated MMORPG title, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, into Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. We are sure that local players will warmly embrace and welcome this great game."

The game, developed by EA Mythic allows RvR battles between six armies, such as the obstinate Dwarfs, the noble High Elves, the loyal humans of the Empire, the savage Greenskins, the corrupt Dark Elves or the marauding human worshipers of Chaos. Even more, for the first time, players can engage in Public Quests, which are some communal, multi stage quests, to be completed by allied players, or begin the City Siege campaign that allows players to pillage and sack an enemy capital.

Jon Niermann, President of EA Asia, said, "We are very excited to be partnering with GigaMedia on this project and delivering it in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. The MMORPG fantasy genre is a tried and tested success formula - especially in Asia - and we look forward to introducing a new audience to the uniquely dark, gritty, and humorous world of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning"
