Rumored to be the European version of W42s

Apparently, their W42s, available only in Japan until now might be heading towards Europe, after an almost identical phone as design was discovered on the Czech T-mobile website.

According to the rumors, the mobile phone that is thought to be the European version of the W42s will be going under the name of W880. What's interesting is that another one of Sony Ericsson's highly rumored mobile phones awaiting to be released, the ultra-slim metallic Ai phone, was supposed to be presented as the W880.

And although only one of the two could be named that, there's no real proof that any of the two will actually be released as the W880.

Leaving name rumors aside, the Sony Ericsson W42s was made for CDMA 1 x network and the first walkman phone to be released in Japan. It comes equipped with a control button/ mechanical wheel for navigation, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 2.2 inch 262k color QVGA LCD, FM Radio and 1GB of internal memory for storing a pretty decent amount of tracks.

And if that doesn't seem to be enough, a Memory Stick Pro DUO memory card slot allows you to add up to 4GB of extra memory. Due to a power saving mode, the 3G (CDMA 2000) slider also allows the user to listen to music continuously for 30 hours, which means that you might actually get to listen to all the music you are storing on 5GB of memory provided by the W42s.

The mobile phone is suspected to be officially announced by February 2007 and it would be a nice addition to the series of walkman phones Sony Ericsson has to offer in Europe, but since this is just another rumor and not an official announcement, we'll just have to wait and see.
