Sony is holding the first-ever PlayStation Network Gamers' Choice Awards competition, which gives power to the PSN users who want to vote for their favorite downloadable games in order to earn discounts for them.

The PlayStation Network has been ripe with great downloadable games, both exclusive to it but also some that appeared on other platforms.

Now, Sony wants gamers to decide which the best of last year were, in four categories: Best PS3 Downloadable Game, Best PSP Downloadable Game, Best PS3/PSP mini and Best PSN Exclusive Game.

The PSN Gamers' Choice Awards kick off on February 22 and last until March 1, during which users of the online service must download free XMB themes corresponding to each of the games highlighted below.

"At the end of the voting period, the four winning games – one per category – will go on sale at a 30% discount in the PlayStation Store and will also be available for a 50% discount to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Get your vote on, but remember you can only vote once in each category," revealed Sony on the PlayStation Blog.
