Earlier today, we learned that Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra was set to launch its first 3D-capable smartphone, the HTC EVO 3D, and now we head that Vodafone too is set to bring the new device to its airwaves in the near future.

The wireless carrier has announced via its blog that it aims at adding the new smartphone to its offering, but did not provide a specific release date for it. However, it did promise that more info on this would be made available closer to the release date.

Running under the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread platform with latest HTC Sense user experience on top of it, the EVO 3D should provide users with a great experience.

It also sports a fast 1.2GHz application processor, along with a large 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960) super LCD display that offers support for viewing 3D content while on the go.

In addition to 3D content playback, the smartphone comes with the ability to record such content, courtesy of dual 5-megapixel cameras that HTC packed it with.

The phone's specs list also includes HSDPA 14.4 Mbps/ HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, along with WiFi and Bluetooth, and DLNA and HDMI (MHL) video output.

It also comes with a built-in GPS receiver, Digital compass, G-Sensor, Light-Sensor, and with a 1730mAh Li-Ion battery for extended usage time.

With HTC EVO 3D, users can also download and install applications and games available via the Android Market, and they can also enjoy various Google Mobile Services while on the go.

“The HTC EVO 3D is a device that reflects how HTC is pushing the limits of innovation, bringing the best technology and more choice to our Australian customers,” Ben Hodgson, country Manager, HTC Australia and New Zealand, stated.

“This beautifully designed and powerful device continues the HTC tradition of putting the customer first in everything we do. It opens new frontiers for all customers looking to add a new dimension to their viewing experience.

“3D has revolutionised the way customers experience content and the highly-customisable HTC EVO 3D will change the way customers interact with their devices and how they create and share their experiences with friends and family.”
