Samsung Galaxy W has just received a software update, which intros several new features and improvements, as well as some bug fixes.

The update is only available for Samsung Galaxy W handsets sold by Vodafone in Australia, so don’t try to check for this one unless you own the right device.

Dubbed Android 2.3.6 “Value Pack,” the update is meant to offer Galaxy W users a glimpse to what Ice Cream Sandwich has to offer, so expect some of the features present in Android 4.0 to be available after the upgrade.

However, the user’s day-to-day experience with the device will not change radically, so don’t expect anything impressible. It is also worth mentioning that the update also addresses some minor bugs that have been previously reported.

The update is pushed in stages, so not all Samsung Galaxy W owners will receive it at the same time. Keep in mind that the update is available via FOTA (firmware over the air) or Samsung Kies desktop software.
