It looks like ViewSonic plans to release one of the first 7-inch tablets to run Google's Android Honeycomb platform available on the market.

If HTC does not push the Honeycomb upgrade for the Flyer anytime soon, ViewPad 7x might be the first to come out with the latest iteration of Android.

According to the guys over at Pocket-lint, who cite anonymous but reliable sources, the manufacturer prepares to showcase its latest addition to the tablet lineup, ViewPad 7x, at the Computex tradeshow, in Taipei.

The upcoming Android tablet is likely to become the company's flagship tablet in the 7-inch range, as it will be delivered with Honeycomb out-of-the-box.

Furthermore, it appears that it's not only the software that will make the tablet attractive, but its hardware as well.

ViewPad 7x is equipped with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and it should feature two cameras for front and back, as well as HSPA+ support for faster data transfer speeds.

In addition, Pocket-lint sources report that the ViewPad 7x tablet features a 'funky design' and it weighs about 380 grams (battery included).

Other interesting highlights of the unannounced tablet include DLNA and HDMI support for sharing media with a TV.

And to make things worse for HTC who is expected to deploy the Honeycomb upgrade for the Flyer some time this year, ViewSonic plans to release its 7-inch Android 3.0 or 3.1 tablet in June.

However, another tablet might beat the ViewSonic's ViewPad 7x as the industry's first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet available on the market, and that's Acer's Icona Tab A100, which is already available for pre-order and is expected to launch on May 14.

Although the manufacturer has yet to announce the tablet's price, it is expected that the ViewPad 7x will be much cheaper than other tablets in its range.
