DICE, as the developer, and Electronic Arts, as the publisher, have confirmed that they are set to offer more details on the upcoming Vietnam based expansion for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, the last big video game exhibition of the year.

A post on the official blog of the Battlefield franchise reads: “As you may already know, Vietnam is an expansion pack to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with 4 brand new maps built in Frostbite, as well as Vietnam specific weapons, vehicles, persistence, unlocks, and achievements/trophies.”

Electronic Arts has not said whether the new content will only be delivered via digital distribution or whether the game will be republished with the Vietnam specific maps and weapons bolted on.

The Battlefield series has already visited the Vietnam battlefield once in 2004, simulating some of the most intense battles of the conflict and offering both a single player campaign and a host of multiplayer modes.

When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 launched DICE pledged that it will keep delivering maps for the game for free in clear contrast with the policy of Activision and Infinity Ward, who charged 15 dollars for map packs for Modern Warfare 2.

At the moment DICE is also putting the finishing touches on the multiplayer game modes of the upcoming relaunched Medal of Honor, which is set to arrive for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on October 12 in North America and three days later in Europe.

The company is also widely rumored to be working on Battlefield 3, but not much is known about the game or its setting.

Battlefield 3 will be using the Frostbite 2.0 engine and those who get the new Medal of Honor will get a beta access key that will be activated within a year of the launch date.
