A couple of weeks ago, Internet giant Google officially unveiled the latest version of its Android operating system, namely Android 2.2 Froyo, and those interested in learning a little more on what it can deliver to owners of a Motorola DROID can now do so. Two videos providing a walkthrough of the OS on the hottest Android-based mobile phone of last year have emerged into the wild, both of them available below for your viewing pleasure.

Unfortunately, although a software update to bring the OS on DROID from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 was promised, there are no details on when the update is released. Launched last year with Android 2.0 on board, the Motorola DROID had the chance to taste Android 2.1 only recently, and the new Froyo update is expected to expand its capabilities even more.

What users will be able to see in the videos embedded at the bottom of this article (via Droid-Life) includes a quick look at some of the new options and settings that Android 2.2 is set to bring to the device, including those aimed at the manner in which users store the applications on their devices. As soon as the new OS flavor arrives, users will be able to either store apps on the handset, the same way they did until now, or to put them on a microSD memory card.

Other options and features that can be seen in the videos below include the automatic updating of applications, the setting that enables users end a call by pressing the power button, or the manner in which Flash 10.1 goes along with the device. In addition, the upcoming platform version is set to deliver some speed improvements, and the Gmail service packs some appealing features too. In other words, all seems to be shaping up pretty nice for Motorola DROID users out there, though it still remains to be seen when they benefit from these goodies.
