As we near the beginning of December, the Spike TV Video Game Awards are nearing their start, to the nominees for this year's edition have finally been unveiled to the public.

Quite surprisingly, at least considering the other hugely marketed titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops or Halo: Reach, BioWare's Mass Effect 2 leads with the most nominations (10), followed by Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, with 9, and then by Black Ops and Reach, each with 7.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of journalists, who also chose the final list of nominees for this year's awards ceremony.
