Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has recently announced a series of new enhancements brought to its 3G network. According to the company, it has just expanded the coverage of its network to new areas in Orange County, New York, through the addition of two new cell cites in the area, which should result in better services delivered to its customers.

The new cell site deployed in Rock Tavern should improve coverage along Route 207 from Newburgh to Rock Tavern, and it covers Station Road, Bull Road and Telemann Road in New Windsor, and County Route 747 near Stewart Airport, Verizon notes. Moreover, the company adds that the new site in Montgomery is aimed at enhancing coverage along Route 208 from Montgomery to Walden, along with Route 17K from County Route 54 to the Montgomery Airport and Interstate 84 from Stewart Airport to Neelytown Road.

The mobile phone carrier also says that the new network enhancements are meant to prove its commitment towards providing better services to its users, and that they are part of its plan to expand and improve its 3G network all around the United States. The improved services that Verizon customers in the area can enjoy include picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and Mobile Broadband. The data transfer speeds Verizon can provide via its network rise up to 1.4 megabits per second, with average speeds of 600 kilobits per second at download, and up to 500-800 kbps when it comes to upload.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Upstate New York network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership,” said Gene Fassett, executive director of Network for Verizon Wireless’ Upstate New York Region. Additional details on Verizon's coverage around the US and on its services offering can be found on the carrier's website.
