Apple is looking for a Verizon iPad system engineer, according to a recent job posting discovered merely days after the discovery of a similar job opening, which called for a full-time Cellular Systems Performance Engineer who is familiar with cellular technologies including CDMA.

Verizon is the only US operator capable of handling a potential CDMA / LTE iPhone, therefore the rumors have kept on pouring that Apple and the operator are cooking something together for a post-Christmas unveiling.

Whether or not these rumors are accurate remains to be seen.

In the meanwhile, Apple has posted a new job opening for a “Verizon iPad System Engineer.”

The "engineer" designation would have us think that Apple is looking for someone to put a CDMA or LTE chip into the iPad. However, by reading through the job description, we found that it’s more of a sales position, rather than a technical one.

Have a look:

“The iPad System Engineer will work with the carrier business teams, business customers, and Apple sales resources to drive the adoption of iPad in enterprise accounts.”

“Partnered with the iPad Sales team, the SE will be responsible for developing carrier relationships within the carrier technical teams and must have exceptional technical, project management, presentation and communication skills. He/She must also possess the ability to work without direct supervision or detailed direction.”

While the candidate must have an existing knowledge of the mobile market and the technologies that support it, his / her success will mostly depend on the “enterprise sales experience” they possess, Apple reveals.

This person must also have:

- strong IT knowledge in the areas of enterprise messaging and collaboration, VPN, WiFi and enterprise security technologies

- hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Active Sync and Exchange Server is (considered a plus)

- the ability to effectively work with all levels in an organization including corporate CIOs and IT departments

- the ability to work across a matrixed team

Apple prefers the new recruit to have a BA/BS Degree with 3 years of relevant work experience.
